I AM still keeping my fingers crossed and praying every day and did not want to say anything until I read the letters from Desperate Student (The Star, May 5) and Dr Rozita Sirat(The Star, May 6).

I share the same fate as Desperate Student and I want to take this opportunity to record my sincere thanks to Dr Rozita for speaking up for us.

I scored straight As, 10 1As, 2 2As and an A1 for my GCE “O” Level 1119 English. I am one of the top students in my school and district.

To boost my chances of securing scholarships, I worked really hard in my extra-curricular activities. I am a black-belt holder in Taekwondo and was awarded first-dan by the Kukkiwon. Those who have actually gone through the process would know how hard it was to be awarded first-dan.

Besides that, I was also the committee member of my school's editorial board and the Vice President of Archery Club. Almost every day, I stayed back at school, hoping to complete all my obligations to the school.

I also emerged champion in the state level Science Quiz. In the National Chemistry Quiz, I was awarded High Distinction while in the National Physics Quiz, I got Bronze Medal. I was constantly being chosen to represent my school in Olympiad Mathematics and National Science Challenge as teachers have faith in me. Normally, I would not disappoint them.

I was also a school athlete in Badminton and Archery competitions.

Thinking that I am good enough, I applied for PSD scholarship and places in local institutions. Thankfully, I was called for an interview but the results are not out yet.

My dad is a factory worker while my mother is a teacher. She will be retiring in not many years to come and studying overseas without a scholarship is of course impossible.

To my disappointment I was not being selected for the KPM Matrikulasi. It was followed by not being called for interviews by Petronas, Bank Negara and Khazanah. Now my only hope is to get the PSD scholarship.

My heart bleeds to see the pain and disappointment on my parent’s faces. Everyday, she has to put on a brave front and congratulate all my friends and her students for getting places in the matriculation and IPTA but her own son who got better results has not got anything so far.

Am I good for nothing? Or are my parents are too rich for me to be considered for a scholarship or for a place in Matriculation?

My mother has been giving her all to teach her students. Many of them have achieved great success in their lives. Some are studying in Cambridge while there are a few who gain admission to Ivy League. It is really sad to see others succeeded while her very own son is stucked with nothing at all.

PSD you are my last hope; please don’t disappoint me.

Haiz, look like it is my destiny to go to form 6.
Another 2 long years of wearing school uniform, can you believe that?

I actually thought i dun have to wear school uniform anymore but the opposite juz happened!!!!!!!!

Imagine what the teachers would say?

When i was still in form 5, teachers always told us not to go to form 6!! Even they themselves dun have the confidence to teach form 6, what more about me?

Die dy la, die dy la!!!!
